Kaveri |Cauvery River |By K Siddhartha

The Kaveri_(Cauvery) rises in Taal #Cauvery from the Brahmagiri hills of Western Ghats in #Kodagu_district_(Coorg) of Karnataka. It flows eastwards crossing the Ghats. A series of rapids and waterfalls are found on its upper course of which The #Chunchanakatte_Falls and the #Shivasumdra Falls are famous. Its major tributaries in #Karnataka are the #Hemavati (which joins near #Krishnaraj_Sagar), #lakshmanatirtha #harangi #kabini which (joins near #Tirumakudal_Narasipur),#Suvarnavati #Lokapavani #Shimsha and the #Arkavati. After forming a delta, it flows into the Bay of Bengal. The Kaveri delta is very much fertile and known as the granary of the south. #Tiruchchirapplli and #Kumbakonam are two important towns on the bank of this #river. |By K.Siddhartha.
